Eloping in New Mexico is quite easy. If you are 18 or older, you can apply for your license at the NM county clerk’s office in the county where you plan to marry and have your ceremony that very day. There is no waiting period, no blood tests, and no residency requirements, but if from another country, bring your passports. You will need birth certificates, or if over 24, driver’s licenses will do, and you need to know your social security numbers.

If previously married, the date of divorces or the date of spousal deaths must be supplied. Proxy, covenant, same sex, and common law marriages are not allowed, but cousin marriages are. The cost is $25 to $40 (cash only) and the license is valid for one year.
