Eloping in Kansas - Requirements, etc

You do not have to be a state resident to get married or elope in Kansas and no premarital education or blood tests are required. Apply at the district court clerk’s office with your driver’s license and social security card or other type of photo identification at the ready. Date of final divorce decree or death of previous spouse must be stated.

There is a waiting period of three days and the licence is valid for up to six months. Cost of the marriage license varies from county to county but is usually between $60 and $85.50. Cash and exact change is required.

Neither first cousin, nor same-sex marriages are legal in Kansas. Judges of a court record or any ordained minister may perform the ceremony.
